Mark Kozelek Keeping up the Holiday Cheer

eggnog2Now his album Mark Kozelek Sings Christmas Carols isn’t out till next November….A WHOLE YEAR, but he has given us just a mere taste of the nog with “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen”. His voice remains to be one of the most heartfelt, warm, and soothing out there. Keep in mind while listening that he sings all of the parts you hear in all the different octaves! So just chalk this one up to another success for Mark Kozelek in the year 2013.

The Killers consistently get one thing right..Their annual Christmas Song!

Tally them up, 7, it has been 7 years in a row now that the Killers have released an original Christmas tune just in time for the holidays and for project (RED). The newest single entitled “Christmas in L.A.” is accompanied with a music video featuring Owen Wilson and the voice of Harry Dean Stanton. It explores one of the more sad elements of the holidays…being alone. While it might depress you if you really are going to be alone this holiday (and for that I’m sorry) it actually makes me yearn for this time of year even more knowing that I will have friends and family throughout the entire month to celebrate with. The song also tries to put an interesting spin on the classic “White Christmas” towards the end. Co-written and performed with Dawes to add some country twang. This is the perfect song to get your holiday spirit in gear. Enjoy and Happy Holidays!
